グラスネイル体験記 [ギター全般]
フィンガー・ピッカーの私にとって悩ましいのが爪の保護です。
いつもベストな状態に保っておきたいところなんですが、
・そもそも爪が弱い
・パソコン作業が多く、キーボードで引っかけてしまう
・ジーンズのチャックも結構凶暴
・ニュータイプなのか？爪を噛む癖もある
などなどで、なかなか良い状態を維持できずに悩ましいです。
そんな中で、最近アコギ弾きの方の間で、
グラスネイルなる爪保護セットが流行っていると聞きました。
なんでも、押尾コータローが使ってて、
ツアーなんかでもグッズとして販売して一気にメジャーになったようですね。
で楽天とかで調べてみると、ギタリストセットなんかもあったので、
ちょっと人体実験してみましたので、以下に簡単なレビューを。
【グラスネイルとは】
グラスネイルって何かと言いますと、要するに家で簡単に出来るネイルです。
爪の上に粉を塗って、それを溶かして、
硬化剤をスプレーすればガッツリ固まるという訳ですね。
【長さを出すことについて】
販売元のHPでは、長さも出せると書いていますが、
これは要するにティップを張り付けて一緒に固めればOKという事です。
【上手くできるのか？という点】
状態を維持するには、同じ厚みでキープしたいところですが、
最初はなかなか難しいです。
ただ、慣れで解決できるものですし、一人でも問題なくできます。
【強度は上がるのか？という点】
爪の厚さを倍にするようなものですので、確実に強度は上がります。
荒っぽい弾き方も、遠慮なくできる感じです。
【どれくらい持つのか？】
下処理を丁寧にやって2週間、
何もしないでいきなり塗ると1週間、
といった感じですね。
そのくらい経つと、端の方から剥がれてきます。
【音色の変化は？】
めちゃめちゃあります。
ピックで言うと、ミディアム・シン（私の爪は薄いので）を、
エクストラ・へヴィーに変えた感じ（笑）。
ここはこれを好むかどうかですね。
【爪への影響は？】
フツーのネイルよりも圧倒的に少ないそうですが、
多少はあると思います。
1か月くらいつけた後、はがしてみると、
多少爪が薄くなったきがしました。
【結論】
正直悩ましいですね～。
付けていると非常に安心して生活できるようになるんですが、
私にとっては音色変化が結構気になりました。
あと、生爪への負担も少しはあるようですし...
※バンドエイド一週間巻いてるだけでも変化は出ますから、当然ですよね。
ただ、ナイロン弦より負担の大きい鉄弦をフィンガー・ピッキングする人で、
爪の弱さに悩んでらっしゃるなら、結構おすすめではないかと思いますね。
興味があったら試してみてください。
